Sixth Annual Wines of the World
On October 4 the Bent Tree Foundation and Trouts Beverages sponsored the sixth annual “Wines of the World” event. Five generous distributors once again provided 100+ wines from around the world. We remain most grateful for their continuing participation.
We thank Jack and Donna Short, Jessie and Debbie Hunter, Marty Stephens and Madeline’s Coast 2 Coast, Nancy Davis, Tom and Sandy Carlson and Colin Thompson who filled the table with superb culinary delights. Donna Short, Sheila Thompson and Betty Francis provided the beautiful autumn decorations. Those who helped with the food also helped with setting up the event as did Bob and Kimberly Holfels and Dee Boggus. We thank Ellen Whitten for continuing her tradition of providing delightful piano music as well as Steve Lawrence for being the photographer for this event. Additional thanks to those mentioned above as well as Jean Bender, Rebecca Suitt and all those who helped clean up after the event.
Our supporters generously purchased raffle tickets hoping to win one of the eight raffle prizes – a wonderful aged single malt Scotch won by Clifton McWilliams, a bottle of Jack Daniels Whiskey won by David Kiewit, a bottle of Moet Chandon champagne won by Kellie Bertram, a Madeline’s cake gift certificate won by Linda August, an Amazon gift card won by Denis Foerst, a Carriage House gift certificate won by Linda Lorenzi, a Tom’s Awesome Seafood gift certificate won by Sandy Carlson and a Last Catch gift certificate won by Marty Stephens. We ask that you please support the generous businesses that donated these raffle prizes.
The Foundation raised over $3,600 to be used for scholarships and grants for Pickens County schools and graduating seniors. What a great way to touch the lives of so many Pickens County students! In addition to this great news, we have been told that Trouts and the distributors will be with us again next year for our 7th Wines of the World.
The Foundation remains grateful to all those who make it possible to accomplish our goals.
