5th Annual Round Robin Tennis
The 5th Annual Round Robin Tennis Tournament for Scholarships was held at Bent Tree on Saturday, April 25. Thirty men and women vied for the championship of the tourney, which raised $8000 for scholarships for varsity tennis players at Pickens High School.
The women’s section had two flights: Wendy Lowe and Lori Morrow were the winners in Flight A; Gail Rosenke and Rhoda Neighbors were the winners in Flight B. The men’s champions were Lyn Lewis and Bill Swift; runner-ups were Gerald Hunter and Pat Gallagher.
In addition to the $30 fee paid by the participants, the tourney was aided by many sponsors.
