6th Annual Longest Day of Golf
By Nancy Thurber
On a sweltering June day eight first class golfers, four men (Dino Colston, Len Hill, Fed Crain, and Rob Johnson) and four women (Judy Crain, Susan Carmichael, Ellie Girard, and Judy Galphin) teed off at 10:00 AM to play 18 holes of golf. Our two teams added a little spice to their game by wagering on which team would have the lowest net score. The members of the losing team would each donate an extra $10.00. Thank you to Dino, Len, Fred, and Rob for your extra donation.
This year’s event raised over $6,000. All of these donations will go to fund the Scholarship/Grant Program of the Bent Tree Foundation. It’s not too late to show your support for the efforts of your fellow Bent Tree residents. Donations may be made in the name of an individual participant or team. Checks may be made payable to the Bent Tree Foundation, Inc. with Scholarship/Grant Fund noted on the memo line. Checks may be mailed to the Bent Tree Foundation, 744 Noah Drive, Suite #113-184, Jasper, GA 30143 or left in the Community Mail Center for Colin Thompson or Nancy Thurber. $19,000 in Student Scholarships was awarded to Pickens High School graduates this year. Teach grants will be awarded in September of 2015. On behalf of the entire Bent Tree Foundation Board of Directors, thank you to all of the players, donors, and the 19th Hole for their generous support of this event.
