3rd Annual Longest Day of Golf
On June 25, eight intrepid golfers (four men and four women) met at The 19th Hole to prepare for a long, hot day of golf. The teams, comprised of Dino Colston, Len Hill, Rob Johnson, and Elden Bonnette for the men and Susan Carmichael, Judy Crain, Kelly Anthony, and Delene Parker for the women teed off at 8:00 AM. Their objective, to play as many holes of golf as each team could in order to raise money for the Scholarship/Grant program of the Bent Tree Foundation. In ninety plus degree heat, these heroes played their hearts out. Their spirits were not dampened by the high humidity although their shirts might have been. The men’s team played 144 holes of golf and the women’s team played 100.
As I write this, the Foundation has collected over $4,000.00 from this event with outstanding pledges of over $1,000.00 still to be received. It’s not too late! You can still show your support for the efforts of your fellow Bent Tree residents. Donations may be made in the name of an individual participant or team. Checks should be made payable to the Bent Tree Foundation Inc., 744 Noah Drive, Suite 113-184, Jasper, GA 30143 or submitted through Community Mail to Colin Thompson. One hundred percent of all donations go to scholarships for Pickens County students and grants for programs submitted to the Foundation by Pickens County teachers and administrators. Twenty scholarships and six grants were awarded for 2012. With your support, the Foundation hopes to be able to do more in 2013.
On behalf of the entire Bent Tree Foundation Board of Directors, thank you to all of the players and donors for their generous support of this event.
