2nd Annual Longest Day of Golf
On June 20, 2011, two teams of four players each played golf from sunrise to sunset in the second annual “Longest Day of Golf” event. This event is held to support the Bent Tree Foundation’s offerings of scholarships and grants to enhance the educational opportunities for students in the Pickens County public schools.
The teams consisted of outstanding players each with a high motivation for this extremely worthwhile cause and also with plenty of stamina. The objective of the players was to play as many holes as could be accomplished while the sun was up. The men’s and women’s teams each played 81 holes. The players on the women’s team were Nancy Henson, Kelly Anthony, Susan Carmichael and Delene Houser. The men’s team consisted of Len Hill, Dino Colston, Elden Bonnette and Jack Collins. Support for these teams were either direct donations or monetary pledges per hole played.
To all the players and to all who contributed in any way, the Foundation extends a huge “thank you” in helping us make a positive contribution to the improvement of education throughout Pickens County. It is the Foundation’s commitment that 100% of all pledges and donations be directed solely toward scholarships and grants.
