1st Annual Longest Day of Golf
The Bent Tree Foundation held its first annual “Longest Day of Golf” on November 1, 2010. This event was held to support the Bent Tree Foundation’s offerings of scholarships and grants to enhance the educational opportunities for the students in the Pickens County public schools. The day began with cool temperatures and eager players.
The objective of the players was to play as many holes as could be played while the sun was up. The women’s team played 107 holes, and the men’s team played 104 holes – what a feat of stamina! The players on the women’s team were Nancy Henson, Susan Carmichael, Delene Houser and Judy Crain. The men’s team consisted of Len Hill, Dino Colston, Bill Harvey and Walter White. Support for these teams were either direct donations or monetary pledges per hole played.
To all the players and to all who contributed in any way, the Foundation extends a huge “thank you” in helping us make a positive contribution to the improvement of education throughout Pickens County. It is the Foundation’s commitment that 100% of all pledges and donations be directed solely toward scholarships and grants.
