4th Annual Flapjacks for the Foundation
By Colin Thompson
The Bent Tree Foundation held its fourth fundraising event at Fatz Café on Saturday morning, November 22, 2014. Almost 140 attendees enjoyed the breakfast that Fatz so generously provides for various charitable and humanitarian purposes. This fundraiser was held to raise money for the Foundation’s Stray Animal Care Fund as well as other Foundation projects. With the help of many wonderful volunteers, who served as waiters, servers and dishwashers, we were able to provide our attendees with a fine meal plus the enjoyment of being served by their neighbors.
In addition to a delicious breakfast, the Foundation sold raffle tickets for the opportunity to win one of eight prizes. Those prizes were a Kindle Fire HD7 tablet, a Nikon Coolpix digital camera plus accessories, a Keurig 2.0 coffeemaker with carafe, an aged single-malt Scotch donated by Trouts Beverages, a $50 gift certificate donated by the Woodbridge Inn, two $25 gift certificates donated by the Carriage House and a $25 gift certificate donated by Rocco’s Pub.
“Flapjacks for the Foundation” was yet again a wonderful success. We thank all of you for your donations, your attendance and your volunteerism. Without your support, the Foundation would have great difficulty in taking care of the stray animals that so frequently seem to find their way into Bent Tree.
We look forward to holding our fifth Fatz breakfast next spring. We ask each of you to support the business sponsors who have provided the Foundation with assistance over the last few years, particularly those listed above.
