For several years the Bent Tree Foundation hosted the annual golf tournament “Longest Day of Golf” to raise money for scholarships for qualified Pickens County seniors and teacher/school grants. In 2019, under the direction of Dino Colston and Carol Carlsen, the format of our annual tournament was redesigned. The product of their efforts is our new annual tournament “The BTFI Golf Team Challenge for Scholarships and Grants”. Dino and Carol also led the tournament in 2020. In 2021, Brian Orletsky, assisted by Mike Moffitt, took over responsibilities of this event. They repeated their endeavors in 2022. In 2023 Zandra Sommer is assuming the leadership of this fundraiser. Teams of foursomes seek donation pledges, and each team that raises $1,000 will have a scholarship or teacher’s grant named after their team. Each player in the winning foursome will receive a $25 Pro Shop Gift Certificate, compliments of Patrick Higgins, the Bent Tree Golf Pro.
