The Bent Tree Animal Shelter, funded by the Bent Tree Foundation, was built in 2012 to provide a safe haven for lost dogs and cats. The dream of building this Shelter became a reality through the wonderful support of our Bent Tree community – both through generous monetary donations as well as many hours of volunteer labor from our talented residents. Additionally, the Bent Tree Gardeners graciously planted Foundation-funded and donated shrubbery and small plants to enhance the landscaping around the Shelter.
It is extremely important that we stress that no dogs or cats picked up outside of Bent Tree property be brought into Bent Tree and to our Shelter. The Shelter is a service to the Bent Tree community and its residents and therefore must be reserved for dogs and cats found within our gates. There are two reasons for this policy: l) the expense of food and veterinary bills and 2) the limited number of volunteers that are needed to feed, walk and overall take care of the animals. The Foundation appreciates your understanding and strict adherence to this policy.
