3rd Annual Flapjacks for the Foundation
The Bent Tree Foundation held its third annual fundraising event (formerly known as “Pancakes for Paws”) at Fatz Café on Saturday morning, March 23, 2013. Almost 100 attendees enjoyed the breakfast that Fatz so generously provides for various charitable and humanitarian purposes. This fundraiser was held to raise money for the Foundation’s Stray Animal Care Fund as well as our Scholarship/Teacher Grant Fund. With the help of many wonderful volunteers, who served as waiters, servers, dishwashers and so on, we were able to provide our mostly Bent Tree attendees with a fine meal plus the enjoyment of being served by their neighbors.
In addition to a delicious breakfast, the Foundation sold many raffle tickets for the opportunity to win one of seven prizes. Those prizes were: a Kindle (won by Mark and Maureen Atkins), a Nikon digital camera (won by Dino and Sheryl Colston), a gift certificate donated by Rocco’s Pub (won by Bobby Edge), two gift certificates donated by the Pueblo Grill (won by Bill Grubbs and D. Stewart), and a gift certificate from Johnny’s Pizza (won by Tom and Margie Robinson). And last, but not least, a 26-year old bottle of Scotch, encased in a beautiful wooden box, donated by Trout’s Beverages, was won by Jesse and Debbie Hunter.
“Flapjacks for the Foundation” was a wonderful success. We thank all of you for your donations, your attendance and your volunteerism. Without your support, the Foundation would have great difficulty in taking care of the stray animals that so frequently seem to find their way into Bent Tree. And, because of your financial support, the Foundation is able to provide scholarships to qualifying students graduating from Pickens High School as well as providing grants to teachers who need funds for special classroom projects.
We look forward to holding our fourth annual Fatz breakfast next spring. We ask each of you to support the business sponsors who have provided the Foundation with assistance over the last three years, particularly those listed above.
