The Bent Tree Foundation held its seventh fundraising event at FATZ Café on Saturday morning, November 19. Over 100 attendees enjoyed the breakfast that FATZ so generously provides for various charitable and humanitarian purposes. This fundraiser was held to raise money for the Foundation’s Stray Animal Care Fund as well as other Foundation projects. With the help of many wonderful volunteers, who served as waiters, servers and dishwashers, we were able to provide our attendees with a fine meal plus the enjoyment of being served by their neighbors.
Two of our dear Bent Tree animal lovers, in honor of Vicki and Wayne Wilson, created FODDRILL and WILSON, our awesome new pet mascots. The mascots were in attendance to greet our friends and neighbors at the door, to pick the winning raffle tickets out of the basket and to overall help us show our gratitude for the continued generosity from our community for our Animal Care Fund. Speaking of the Wilsons, it was a wonderful surprise that morning that they returned to help with this event even though they no longer live in Bent Tree. How like them to continue their support by driving from Cumming and working this event. It was so very good to see them!
In addition to a delicious breakfast, the Foundation sold raffle tickets for the opportunity to win one of eight prizes. Our winners were: Linda Bonnette won the Kindle Fire HD8 tablet; Dennis Fankhouser won the Keurig coffeemaker; Neil Shupack won the bottle of aged Dewars Scotch Whisky donated by Trouts Beverages; Judy Steinmeyer won a bottle of G.H. Mumm Champagne; Pat Yates won a bottle of very special Jack Daniels Whiskey; Jerry Tyson won a UGA tote bag; Sandy Carlson won a $25 gift certificate from Tom’s Awesome Seafood; and Don Smith won a $25 gift certificate from The Last Catch. Congratulations to all our winners!
“Flapjacks for the Foundation” was yet again a great success. We thank all of you for your donations, your attendance and your volunteerism. The Bent Tree Foundation could not function without all the wonderful community support.
We look forward to holding our eighth FATZ breakfast next March. We ask each of you to support the business sponsors who have provided the Foundation with assistance over the last few years, particularly those listed above.
