Longest Day of Golf Scores Another Win for Scholarships
By Steve Lawrence
2018 marked the third year of the newer format whereby anyone in the community plays anytime during the day of this event and can make a donation to the Foundation a part of their round that day. In so doing, more Pickens County students are touched through the scholarships and grants funded by the Bent Tree Foundation.
The Bent Tree Foundation Directors took turns manning the registration booth on the patio and willingly accepting donations from scheduled players, accidental players, regular donors and just folks who wandered by and wanted to help out. When the day ended, over $4,000 had been raised through the generosity of the golfers and their supporters as well as Scholarship Major Donors who chose to mark the occasion by making their annual donations for a named or school-specific scholarship.
Our thanks to all the represented golfing teams. The winning team again this year was led by Dino Colston. Our special thanks to Dino for playing such a large role in this tournament year after year.
It’s not too late to make a donation to this worthy cause. If you wish to do so, just contact Foundation President Jesse Hunter, Treasurer Colin Thompson or any Bent Tree Foundation Board Member.
Once again, THANKS to everyone that donated and special thanks to all those who played.
